About Me
Samantha Schwartz, LCSW
I’m Here to Help
Are you struggling with problems you can’t seem to manage? Are you having thoughts, feelings or impulses that distress and overwhelm you? I can help you. With more than 25 years of experience as a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I can offer you concrete, evidenced-based strategies for improving your life and achieving your desired outcomes.
One thing I’ve observed over the years is that people often agonize over whether they really need professional help. We all want to feel like we can do it on our own. You may feel intimidated or somehow inadequate when you consider seeking the assistance of a counselor. Don’t. In reality strong and capable adults seek assistance regularly. You probably wouldn’t even consider fixing your car or your broken arm without the help of a professional and you’d feel just fine about doing so. Your mental health is no different. High functioning people ask for help when they need it. Sometimes they ask for help just because it makes it easier and faster to accomplish their goals. Like many of life’s hardest tasks, addressing mental health difficulties sooner rather than later usually means avoiding prolonged and unnecessary suffering.
My Approach & Philosophy
My approach to counseling is collaborative, non-judgmental, supportive and results oriented. Together we can identify your goals and establish specific strategies to help you achieve them.
My Experience
My professional experience began at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD in the Intensive Psychiatric Services program. Since then, my time has been divided between private practice and hospitals. As is common in these settings, I have extensive experience treating mood, anxiety and addictions as well as people coping with major life changes. Please, don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you believe you could benefit from an expert’s help. You deserve to be the best you can be.
